Some pieces are worth holding on to, like this Pebble Plunk plate basket in cream with brown rings and dashes, a vintage plate basket hand woven in Panama. Its rust brown rings and dashed bands ripple out from an oval cream heart toward the pale rim. It makes a thoughtful gift for collectors of handmade art and anyone who loves the rainforest. Set it on a plate stand, a shelf or a tabletop where its colors can be seen.

From Jan at MolaMagic: Here's another small treasure for that narrow wall you have been wanting to decorate. It is shallow, on a gentle slope, and made to shine on a wall.

Plates like this one are woven by Wounaan and Emberá women in the Darién rainforest of Panama, a skill handed down from mothers and grandmothers to daughters. Fine strands of chunga palm, colored with natural dyes from rainforest plants and earth, are coiled tightly around a core of naguala fiber, stitch by stitch, from a small knot at the center out to the rim. Every plate is woven entirely by hand, so each one is truly one of a kind.

MolaMagic was founded by Janet Marie Brockman with a simple but powerful mission: to help indigenous artisans in Panama share their art with the world. All profits go right back into the artisan community, supporting education, medical care, land, tools, and daily needs. Buying a MolaMagic basket means you are part of that story too.
