This is an old carving, perhaps 25 years old. Funny..., I picked it up this morning and put it on to go to a weekly lunch with my Honduran buddies. Nearly sold it too but I told them the photos were already taken so I was going to keep it for the Internet.
It is a great example of why tagua is called vegetable ivory. that left rear foot has a small blemish. It is where the nut had a hole for the germination of the seed. The artist filled it with a solid filler.
Every tagua carving is a one-of-a-kind treasure.
