This mola measures 17" X 13.5".
Folks, there is political significance to this mola. I use to think the number 25 referred to December 25th but no... that isn’t it.
1925 was the year that the Kunas refer to as their revolt against Panama. It had to do with cultural changes that Panamanian mainlanders were trying to impose on the Kunas. It involved cultural and dress practices. Well, the Kunas had enough of it and whupped up on and ran off the intruders. (Whupped is Southern for Wacked) Anyway, the government of Panama granted the Kuna people a large degree of autonomy after the event and to this day the Kunas are proud of their actions. So these are really Pumas protecting the rights won.
