Remember these little collectibles? I do..., from back in the 1940-1950's.
I passed through Washington DC and New York City on my way to Hawaii, Germany and Panama all before I was six years old. And Mom & Dad would take us to these famous attractions so we would know what it was to be an American.
You guessed it. All the vendors were practicing what it was to be an American. They were peddling these little treasures to all the kids because it was all we could afford. The good news was we could put them in our pockets after we bought them.
And the train? I was fascinated by them when I was a kid. I traveled coast to coast several times by train before I was six years old. I'm convinced that all that travel turned me into a gypsy.
Check the photos, they will tell you the rest of the story.
