Wounaan Indian Woven Basket-Panama #278
This basket measures 6.5" tall and has a 30" circumference. The Wounaan and Embera Indians of the Darien province of Panama are master artisans. The women are well known for their fine baskets like this one. This basket was hand woven using natural fibers found in the forest. A variety of reeds and palm fibers are normally used. The colors are produced with natural extracts of plants and earth, using the traditional method for dyeing basket fibers. Seldom, if ever are two baskets alike.
All our baskets come with a card that tells the Wounaan Basket story so folks can better appreciate their gifts.
